About Boone County Project Literacy

Project Literacy of Boone County was formed in 1987 by a group of citizens concerned about illiteracy in Boone County. It is a local group and has been able to adjust its focus to meet the needs of Boone County as those needs become apparent.

Project Literacy is staffed entirely by volunteers.

There is no charge for tutoring programs - students need only provide paper, pencil or other writing materials. (There may occasionally be nominal costs for materials for special programs.)

The classes and times are set by the student and tutor to fit their needs and schedules. Usually, there are two sessions per week with each session lasting about an hour to an hour and a half.
