About the Boone County Historical Society, Inc.

Aims of the Society

To promote historical study and specific investigation of the State of Indiana, the county of Boone, the City of Lebanon, the towns, villages, townships and other civil subdivisions of Boone County, Indiana.

To undertake the publication of historical facts pertaining to the State of Indiana and Boone County.

To collect and preserve books, pamphlets, paper documents, maps, genealogies, pictures, relics, manuscripts, letters, journals, and fieldbooks.

To maintain a museum/archive of the materials collected.

To foster and encourage historical preservation within the City and County, offering advice in matters of restoration whenever practicable.

To encourage genealogical research and investigation pertaining to Boone County ancestors and to supply assistance wherever possible.

History of the Society

The Boone County Historical Society was reorganized in 1976.  The Society is a non-profit organization devoted to the study of historical matters pertaining to the State and County.  The Society has a specific interest in the county, its history, and its pioneer citizens and former residents.  Membership is open to any person.  The Cragun Home is also open to rent for meetings, weddings and for many other things.
