Past News

Boone County has received a major grant of $987,350 from the Indiana Department of Transportation to acquire land for trails in Boone County.

The Friends of Boone County Trails (FBCT) is a group of concerned Boone County residents who promote the development of trailways in our community.  The FBCT meets regularly to discuss strategies for acquiring and developing land for use in our efforts, as well as to promote trail usage as a part of a healthy and active community.

FBCT is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization that is a component of the Community Foundation of Boone County. Their work on the Farm Heritage Trail, a state "visionary trail" as adopted by the Indiana State Master Trails Plan, is recognized by the Greenways Foundation.

The FBCT is part of a larger project, called the Farm Heritage Trail Project. To find out complete details about this project and about the benefits of having trails in our community, check out the Farm Heritage Trail Project Homepage.
