• Volunteers Needed - Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library needs volunteers to help with a wide range of duties. Area residents are invited to join the library's dedicated Volunteer Corps. There is an ongoing need for help shelving materials, assisting with special projects, making phone calls, photocopying, and delivering materials to the homebound through the Books to Go initiative. New adult volunteers can make a difference in the service the library is able to offer the Zionsville community, and will be instrumental to the continued success of Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library. By volunteering as little as a few hours a month, residents will be able to serve their community, keep up with the latest books, meet new people, help their neighbors, and be appreciated for their contribution. • Communities of the Zionsville Area for Better Government - Eagle Union Zionsville Reorganization Committee information.
• GED Classes are held at Lebanon High School (Room I-20) from 6-8:30 pm on Mondays & Wednesdays. Classes are ongoing throughout the school year with new intake testing the first Monday of each month. For more information, visit the Boone County Learning Network website.
• Shalom Free Lunch - Every Saturday for everyone from 11am-1pm at Shalom House (304 W. Green Street, Lebanon). Everyone welcome!

* Monday, August 25, 2008 - Youth as Resources Grant Workshop from 6:30 - 7:30 pm at Thorntown Public Library. Youth as Resources of Central Indiana is pleased to announce the availability of grant funds for volunteer service projects designed and carried out by youth to serve their community. Grant application forms will only be distributed at Youth as Resources grant workshops. Youth and adult representatives from the applying group must attend one of the three grant workshop sessions. The Fall deadline is Friday, October 17, 2008.

* Sunday, September 7, 2008 - H-I-M (Hogs in Ministry) Informational Meeting at 2 pm at Lebanon Memorial Park. H-I-M is a group of motorcyclists whose faith and trust in God is now leading down a new road. You might say we got a new "road map." * Friday & Saturday, September 12 & 13, 2008 - Back to the Fifties Festival on the Courthouse Square in Lebanon. Activities from 6 to 10 pm on Friday and 9 am to 4:30 pm on Saturday. On Friday, there will be a street dance with music trivia, hula hoop, twist contests during dance breaks, and an art show (with check in from 6-8 pm) in the courthouse rotunda. In addition, there will be a children's fun park , and a classic car cruise-in on the east side of the courthouse square. Food will provided by philanthropic organizations. On Saturday, there will be a classic car Show, arts and craft booths, special 50's t-Shirts, a Main Street food court, a children's fun park, Lebanon Library book sale, Dream Dream Dream A Musical Tribute to the Everly Brothers, The Rigby's Beatle's Tribute Show, Banana Split Contest by Dairy Queen, 5K Rock & Roll Run & Walk Sponsored by Symphony At Sunset Group, art and photography show and sale, and the Roy E. Reynolds - "The Tribute To Elvis Presley", plus much more! There will be shuttle service from Memorial Park to the downtown area on Saturday only.

* Saturday, September 13, 2008 - Boone County Historical Society Porch Sale from 8 am to 1 pm at the Cragun House (during the Back to the Fifites Festival). Bring and donate gently used items for the sale. Items to be sold: LHS Cedars, old photographs, old newspapers, Christmas decorations, Boone Magazines, and many other items. * Saturday, September 13, 2008 - Lebanon Elks #635 Soccer Shoot from 9 am to 12:30 pm at the Abner Longley park. There are four divisions for boys and girls (ages as of August 1): ages 7 & under, ages 8 & 9, ages 10 & 11, ages 12 & 13. Registration takes place on site FREE of any charge. Trophies will be awarded and winners will advance to the State competition which will be held here in Lebanon Saturday , October 11 2008.

Tours leave every 10 minutes, beginning at 6:30pm, from the front lawn of the SullivanMunce Cultural Center located at 225 West Hawthorne Street, Zionsville. Tickets are $8.50 per person and will be available for purchase beginning September 2 online at www.sullivanmunce.org or by calling 317/873.4900.
