History of RCZ
The Rotary Club of Zionsville (RCZ) was started in 1986 by businessmen and leaders to serve local, regional and global communities through projects and activities. Each year the Rotarians of RCZ donate resources for college scholarships, community programs and improvements, and international projects.
The RCZ meets on Thursdays at 7:30 a.m. at the Hussey-Mayfield Public Library on 5th Street, Zionsville. Coffee, juice and donuts are served during the hour-long meeting. This period provides time for visiting with members, business and community announcements, and various programs, and usually features a guest speaker. Social events are scheduled to provide fellowship with the men and women of Rotary. These events include an annual golf outing, an informal dinner and a Christmas banquet. The RCZ participates in local parades and festivals. The RCZ’s primary fundraiser is an art auction featuring paintings for every taste along with a silent auction.
Rotary membership requires 60 percent attendance at meetings according to current bylaws. However, if you cannot attend our Thursday morning meeting you can attend another club’s meeting two weeks before or after an absence and receive credit. Club service and social activities also count for make-ups. Semiannual dues are collected in the amount of $152.00 in January and July. There is also a $50.00 initiation fee to defray the costs of registration in the RI organization. These dues go toward the operating expenses on the club, RI dues, and the RI Foundation.
If you are interested in belonging to an organization that is dedicated to making the world a better place to live and work, come to a meeting or contact a Rotarian today.
